We make a difference
SUSTAINABILITY 360º
For García-Carrion, sustainability is comprised of three dimensions in which, as a group, we have made a difference: environment, economy, and society. The sustainability strategy, strongly supported by technology and innovation, seeks to reduce and neutralize the carbon footprint associated with product development through a cross-cutting approach that affects the entire value chain. To address the challenges posed by climate change, García-Carrión has developed its 360° Sustainability strategy, which focuses on innovation across the entire value chain: from production in the fields to the final consumer's table. This strategy is aligned with the European Union's Farm to Fork and Sustainable Development 2030 strategies, which propose a path to seriously address the social, economic, and environmental problems facing the planet.

ORGANIC AND LOCAL AGRICULTURE
We have long-term agreements with more than 40,000 farmers. At our Huelva plant, we focus on practically organic farming and maintain a firm commitment to the environment. Our fruit is free of phytosanitary treatments. This is our Huelva plant: quality and technological development that define not only this plant, but the entire Don Simón brand: an international benchmark for how a family business has managed to sell millions of dollars' worth of Spanish juice around the world.
The Almería plant (Cítricos de Andarax) is certified by the Andalusian Committee for Organic Agriculture (CAAE) for the production and packaging of organic products. Furthermore, the region's farmers have been encouraged to convert their conventional plantations to organic crops—whose oranges are harvested when they are at their peak ripeness—from which Don Simón Organic Squeezed Juice is obtained.
Likewise, this plant also produces organic salmorejo. The Huelva plant is committed to practically organic farming and the environment, growing fruit free of phytosanitary treatments. The Jumilla and Daimiel plants, as well as the Jaume Serra winery, are also certified for the production of organic products.
Organic viticulture
García-Carrión is committed to organic wine production and vineyard management. To this end, he has invested in converting the land and wines to certified organic products, eliminating the use of herbicides on these plantations, restoring vines, and increasing human capital to promote this type of viticulture.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY
García-Carrión has a firm environmental commitment, which is embodied in our Huelva plant. It is based on three objectives: zero net polluting emissions, because with our trees we reduce CO2 emissions equivalent to those emitted by more than 36,000 cars in a month; zero net water consumption, since we reuse the treated water as fertilizer for our orange trees; and zero waste, since we reuse our organic waste to create value-added products. When an orange is squeezed, 50% of it is discarded as peel. At García-Carrión, we use 100% of the orange peel and, each year, we process 200,000 tons of orange peel to produce essential oils, a perfume, or pellets for animal feed. A clear example that the circular economy is possible and profitable.

WE MANUFACTURE EFFICIENTLY WITH THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY
We are always moving toward increasingly efficient production models and have always been pioneers in the search for and use of new sustainable alternatives. That's why we work to ensure our packaging ensures the quality and safety of our products, has a low carbon footprint, is 100% recyclable, and allows for the use of plant-based materials. We have several examples. These include our juice bottle, made from 100% recycled rPET plastic and 100% recyclable, with a 100% recyclable cap and label; our brick packaging, which contains more than 60% plant-based materials and with which we have managed to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 50% compared to market standards; and our cava bottles, the lightest in the world, and our wine bottles, the lightest on the market.

PRODUCTION AND SELF-CONSUMPTION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY
Together with Endesa, through its subsidiary Endesa X, nine García-Carrión centres – located in Huelva, Daimiel, Valdepeñas, Almería, Jumilla, Segorbe, Vilanova i la Geltrú, La Rioja and Haza – each have their own photovoltaic installation, which together allows them to avoid the emission of around 8,300 tonnes of CO2 per year. Endesa X has installed 33,637 photovoltaic modules (the equivalent of 13 football pitches), thus creating one of the largest and most innovative solar energy projects in the business sector for self-consumption in Spain.
Starting in 2025, García-Carrión has set a goal of covering 50% of its energy needs through the production and self-consumption of bioenergy in the form of biogas and biomass. This green energy, in addition to reducing CO2 emissions, generates significant added value from waste that would otherwise go unused or would even pose a potential environmental problem.

CLIMATE COMMITMENT
Within our Don Simón estate in Huelva, we have a 250-hectare nature reserve to respect the natural habitat of the great bustard, a steppe bird currently in danger of extinction.
Additionally, the new farms are planting orange trees of the "Cadenera" variety, a traditional juice orange variety that is in danger of extinction, thus contributing to its conservation.
We are also firmly committed to responsible water use at all our centers. We are part of Stepbywater, the UN Alliance in Spain for the United Nations Decade on Water for Sustainable Development. This alliance has the support of the Spanish Government and the FEMP, and the presence of the private sector, the third sector, and civil society. This alliance brings together two key initiatives in sustainability and responsible water management under a single umbrella: the 2030 SDG Agenda and the Decade of Action for Water. We share the vision and are firmly committed to sustainable water use, developing and implementing the best practices and technologies available in this field.

SOCIAL COMMITMENT
García-Carrión creates opportunities for high-tech, stable, and quality jobs in rural areas with high rates of depopulation, contributing to the rural areas of Spain. In fact, it has long-term agreements with more than 40,000 local farmers to guarantee the purchase of their crops. This allows for access to quality, locally sourced raw materials and boosts the growth of these regions, located far from urban centers.
As part of its social commitment, García-Carrión, through the J. García-Carrión Foundation, has been working since 1998 to provide employment for people with disabilities, although the family business has been collaborating with people with disabilities since the 1980s.
