FOREMAN

The essence of Jumilla

FOREMAN

The Foreman, tanned by the sun, walks through the limestone lands drained by the valleys and smoothed by time. The roots of his heart extend through them.

Here lies the essence of Jumilla, the expression of aromas and the explosion of flavors contained in the alchemy of its old winery.

JUMILLA

The Jumilla Protected Designation of Origin is located inland in the province of Murcia, an area characterized by high temperatures year-round, ideal for growing the Monastrell variety.

The Monastrell variety is a Spanish grape variety grown throughout the Mediterranean coast, and is the third most widely planted variety in Spain. Its best expression is obtained in Jumilla. Its bunches are small to medium and fairly compact, with medium-sized, spherical, blue-black berries with thick skin rich in anthocyanins; its pulp is fleshy and soft with few tannins.

It is a highly hardy variety with high resistance to drought, requiring good sunlight.

Mayoral wine is produced in our Bodegas 1890, the origin of García-Carrión, where we make all our wines under the Jumilla Protected Designation of Origin. Bodegas 1890 is the origin of the García-Carrión revolution.

This winery owes its name to the year García-Carrión was founded. Its wines are the fruit of the work of six generations who, over the years, have passed on the most appropriate cultural practices and, in turn, adapted the best grape varieties to the lands of Jumilla, a privileged area for its contrasting mountains and valleys.
