The area benefits from the confluence of two opposing climates such as the Atlantic and Mediterranean, which provides mild temperatures and annual rainfall of 400 l/m2, ideal conditions for vines. There are three areas with distinct winegrowing characteristics: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental.
